SUMMARY:

We are seeking summer interns to work in our Ecommerce, Finance, Merchandising, Wholesale and Marketing departments commencing June 18th through August 10th, 2012. The interns will support the development and execution of departmental strategies and business objectives. We are seeking individuals who are hardworking, professional, and work well in a fast-paced, team environment. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in gaining experience with a world class brand and looking for a future career in Retail, Buying and Visual Merchandising. The interns will ultimately learn what it takes to be successful in a dynamic, luxury retail business environment. Through his/her daily tasks, the interns will see how his/her actions impact the business, gain hands-on experience analyzing and translating data into business strategies and presentations, learn to work within a broader cross-functional team, and hone their time-management skills. The program includes four days working out of the corporate office unpaid plus paid Fridays in our flagship store learning retail selling and merchandising skills. The internship will culminate with all interns developing and presenting a business plan and proposal for selling Dylan's Candy Bar products in college bookstores across the country to the Senior Management Team.

Individuals must find their own housing in the New York area. This is an unpaid internship. We will help interns receive college credit, if possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in progress; must have finished at least their freshman year
  • Candidates should possess leadership qualities and skills and be excited about a potential career
    in management and retail
  • Excellent communication, oral and written, plus strong customer service skills
  • Strong detail-orientation, ability to handle multiple tasks and to work independently
  • Knowledge of excel and word
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Basic understanding and interest in retail/fashion related fields
  • Must be hard working and a team player
  • Must love candy

We are looking for a Customer Service Representative to join our team and serve as a first point of contact. The incumbent will interact with wholesale accounts and internet customers to process orders prepare and send invoices, provide information in response to inquiries about products and services, and to handle and resolve chargebacks and complaints.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Inventory Planning, Purchasing, and Allocation is responsible for analyzing, forecasting, and planning the inventory needs for all divisions of the company. This position will focus on prioritizing and streamlining the flow of merchandise through all channels of distribution and providing the organization with analysis, allocation, and guidance. This position will participate in vendor management and will also be a key liaison to our third party logistics provider.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor and analyze all divisions’ (retail, wholesale, and e-commerce) sales, supervising physical inventory, identifying trends, and monitoring the timing and scope of seasonal changes.
  • Meet frequently with key department heads to confirm and adjust forecasts accordingly
  • Allocation responsibilities include maintaining required inventory levels and assortments at stores and distribution center.
  • Work directly with suppliers and merchandising team to develop supply strategies that will minimize out of stocks while maximizing inventory turns.
  • Forecast and maintain a high in-stock rate on key items while simultaneously considering lead times and product expiration dates.
  • Manage orders and order flow to support forecasts within parameters of receipt plans
  • React to changes in forecast in a timely manner
  • Communicate forecast risks or opportunities to the appropriate divisions
  • Create packaging guide for shipment of all goods to all parts of the country and internationally in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible
  • Work closely with distribution center to ensure best practices are consistently applied
  • Insure accuracy of inventory and forecasting systems data
  • Reporting and action on backorders, late orders, and other inventory issues
  • Awareness and action on inventory issues, including discontinued items
  • Identify strategies to minimize the aging of inventory
  • Develop key performance indicators and measures to aid in the evaluation of our inventory and fulfillment management
  • MUST have experience with perishable products
